Purpose of the Role

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Monitoring and with guidance from the Head of RAM, the Monitoring Associate M&E (Process Monitoring) will coordinate process and activity implementation monitoring across all WFP Tanzania field offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all WFP Tanzania Field Offices meet corporate and country office (CO) quality assurance standards for process monitoring, adhering to minimum monitoring requirements (MMRs), data protection, privacy policies, and CO Monitoring Strategy & SOPs.
  • Support regular reviews and updates of the CO Process Monitoring SOP for Tanzania.
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of quarterly process monitoring plans using the WFP Risk-Based Monitoring Framework (RBMF).
  • Update and manage risk parameter data within the WFP RBMF for Tanzania on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with HQ APP-Monitoring to ensure the development and alignment of process and activity implementation data collection tools with corporate standards, including digitized MODA forms.
  • Provide training and technical support to WFP field monitoring assistants on monitoring tools and methodologies.
  • Facilitate data consolidation, analysis, reporting, visualization, and dissemination of process monitoring information.
  • Oversee the Process Monitoring Issues Escalation system, ensuring timely recording, escalation, and resolution of monitoring issues.
  • Track monitoring visits to ensure full activity site coverage and update the Process Monitoring Coverage Dashboard monthly.
  • Suggest improvements in field monitoring processes for enhanced efficiency in assistance program implementation.
  • Coordinate with Programme and Field Offices (FOs) to provide relevant activity site information for monitoring plans.
  • Work closely with the Complaints and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) team to triangulate insights from process monitoring and feedback channels.
  • Support WFP field offices in communicating monitoring and CFM findings to beneficiaries.
  • Assist in preparing process monitoring updates and issue escalations for monthly monitoring coordination meetings and the CO Management Dashboard.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Economics, Rural Development, Statistics, or related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), process monitoring, or operational coordination.
  • Proven experience in project implementation, monitoring activities, data collection, quantitative/qualitative analysis, and reporting.
  • Prior work experience with technical teams (e.g., Agriculture, Nutrition, Food Security Analysis) is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in process monitoring, field project implementation, and data management.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring systems, tools, and quality assurance processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS) and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint).
  • Strong coordination, problem-solving, and proactive approach.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in both oral and written English and Swahili.
